Self + Perception + Art = Woke

Who is this guy?

Who is this guy?

Still wondering how stuff works and why, awed by the night sky, crazy idea that I can build and make things happen, and still needing to express myself in theatre, in colors and pencil lines, and in words, and in music. Seeking the craziest stories of brave madcap quixotic lives driven by passion and humanity and hearing the laughter at all our shared dramas, foibles and fun.

The Mission

MOMENTO MORI.  'Remember you must die'. Bringing life into raw focus. Momento mori (says wikipedia) is the practice of reflection on mortality, especially as a means of considering the vanity of earthly life and the transient nature of all earthly goods and pursuits. In other words, what the hell are you doing? What would you do and how would you live if today was your last day on Earth? Strip away the noise and silliness. Get to the center. And no, a podcast cannot make me look fat. But it can help me remember that my worries about what others might think of me should be secondary to what I think of me and how I spend my precious hours on Earth.

Since no one gets out of here alive anyway, I think we should make the best of it. Make an effort. Have a go. Aspire. Yearn. And not sleepwalk or medicate our ways through.

I think we are worthy of love and laughter (mostly).

I think we find ourselves in the wildness where learning happens: the trying and the failing.

This podcast here is a personal shared journey: public solitude; like a broadcast digital diary or journal. An effort to make the ridiculously fleeting, precious, perishable minutes count - and writing and thinking and creating in order to find the humor and the 'lessons' that live inside all the noise and calculated distractions being sold to us in the 21st century, the static that tries to keep us asleep, not woke: both from the culture wars, but also all those wounds to our hearts that are self inflicted.

So I have made a challenge to myself to be honest and let the chips fall where they may. Can I do it? We'll see.

Honestly. I am really glad you are here.
